17 Weeks & 5 days since My FUE Hair Transplant

I recently received an email from a guy who wanted to ask me some questions about the procedure.  We started discussing strip surgery vs. FUE.  I decided to include part of my email in today's blog entry.

.......From what I understand, the strip surgery is much more profitable for hair surgeons. It is far less time consuming and attendants can do much of the work which frees up the doctor.  FUE is much more beneficial for the patient and Strip is much more beneficial for the surgeons!  I refuse to have an 8 inch strip scar.  Yea, I know its covered up eventually with hair, but...what if I decide someday to shave my head???? Then, the scar is very visible. My donor area with FUE was healed in two weeks.  I was at my golf club and the guys thought I had just gotten a military hair cut.  They had no idea that I had over 5,000 holes in my donor area.....after just two weeks out of surgery.  FUE was a no-brainer for me but you will do what your most comfortable with.  Folks here are really starting to notice my new hair growth, especially those who don't see me every day.  I'm really developing a hair line which I haven't had in 20 years

When I was invited to the Hair Restoration conference in the Bahamas, surgeons asked me questions for 2 hours.  I argued with some and said...why in the HELL would I want an 8 inch scar when I have a choice of NO SCAR and more grafts with FUE?????  The surgeons know FUE is the future but they don't want to convert because of the money!  They want to charge a lot more per graft to make up the time difference so the patient chooses strip surgery to save money.  I understand saving money but Dr. V. is doing this at $4 per graft and is booked into March already.  Because my procedure (largest single session ever!) has gotten him so much international attention we talk very often.  Even the International Hair Restoration Surgeons have already invited Michele and I to San Fransisco next October.  They want to see the 1 year results!  You will make the right decision.  I KNOW you won't regret it!  I was apprehensive for a long time but so glad I did it!
