28 Weeks since My FUE Hair Transplant

I recently sent Dr. Vories at Carolina Hair Surgery some photos and he created a short video showing my hair growth from different angles.  Through a movie making program he was able to dissolve some pictures together which represent prior surgery and current images of my progress.  I'm very encouraged by my new hair growth and more and more people are commenting on it, especially people who have not seen me in a month or two!  Check out the video!

27 Weeks since My FUE Hair Transplant

Today I'm posting a short video with an effort to show how my donor area has recovered with no visible scarring.  My donor area has always look good!  It's not a great video but it does give you some perspective.  Why someone would want the huge scarring created by "strip" surgery is beyond my comprehension.  I know FUE is time consuming for doctors and the profits in relation to time is less, but FUE is the only way to go if your looking out for what's best for the patient.  I have NO visible scarring even after 5,125 grafts were removed and relocated!  This is the first time I have run a comb through my hair in at least 25 years!  I'm still expecting new hair growth and patiently waiting for it to fill in!

6 Months since My FUE Hair Transplant

I wanted to post this picture that was taken while I was an invited guest at the International Hair Surgeon convention in the Bahamas.  This picture clearly shows how bald I was on October 20th, 2012 just five weeks AFTER surgery.  Hundreds of hair surgeons attended the conference and most inspected my head and congratulated Dr. Vories and his work.  They were totally impressed with how good my donor area looked after 5,125 grafts were transplanted.  Most of these surgeons still did "strip" surgery and I argued with several telling them that they were missing a huge population of men who want hair but DO NOT want a huge 8 inch scar on the back of their head...FOREVER!  I have NO scars thanks to FUE!!!!!!!!!!!

My surgery was completed on September 10th of last year so yesterday was exactly six months since the procedure.  I'm posting a picture Dr. Vories took the day before we began surgery.  I think its looking quite good at the six month mark!  I'm still hoping it will continue to fill in during the next several months!

25 Weeks since My FUE Hair Transplant

Today I'm posting more before and current pictures.  The photos speak for themselves!!!  Not much to add here!  My wife did look closely at my scalp area using a magnifying device and did see signs of new hairs breaking the surface of my scalp.  Dr. Vories did say everyone experiences different growth rates and that I should expect these new hairs to continue to break the surface in the next several months.  I sure hope that happens because I want my hair to appear more dense than it does now.

24 Weeks!

24 Weeks since My FUE Hair Transplant!

I'm posting a couple more pictures today!  You can clearly see that I have much more hair growth in the crown area.  My wife looked closely yesterday while she was trimming my hair and could see new small hairs that have broken the scalp surface but are obviously too small to be seen in the photos.  These will be more evident in photos in a couple months.

22 Weeks!

23 Weeks since My FUE Hair Transplant

Today I'm showing you a couple of perspective photos of my progress.  The new hair growth is quite obvious.  

I'm still dealing with a few pimples (in-grown hairs) now and then.  I would estimate that 90% of the in-grown hairs have occurred in the donor area.  I would have thought the pimples would most often occur in the recipient area because that's where they were implanted and may have trouble breaking through the healed skin.  Most of the pimples are tiny and just a nuisance but some lately have been very deep and sore.  My wife and I call these.....the painful "under-ground" hairs.  The area is quite large and very sore for a while. I'm tempted to squeeze them but I know this is not the best way to handle them because it just causes pain and nothing escapes from the deep pimple. Eventually they seem to be reabsorbed and go away in 5-6 days. So...be patient with this type of pimple and let them go away on their own!
